pluripotent stem cells give rise to different stem cell lineages.
oncogenic mutations occur in pluripotent stem cells, which then differentiate to myeloid or lymphoid lineages
Mutations can cause:
- increased cell division (JAK2, MYC translocations activating tyrosine kinase)
- decreased apoptosis (BCL2 translocation)
- increased self renewal (MLL translocation, PML-RARA fusion gene)
