Gilbert’s syndrome
genetic defect in conjugation of bilirubin
unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia (AST,ALT normal as no hepatocyte necrosis)
Asymptomatic or mild jaundice (unconjugated) during illness or stress.

Crigler-Najjar syndrome
similar to Gilberts but complete loss of conjugation – neonatal death.
Dubin-Johnson syndrome
impaired secretion of bilirubin after conjugation – mild intermittent conjugated hyperbilirubinemia.
Dark black pigmented liver.
