impetigo

• clean cover isolate until 24hrs post ABx
• soak off crusts
• staph aureus, sometimes strep pyo
• GAS complicated with ARF, RHD, PSGN
• staph A complicated with bullous impetigo, staph scalded skin syndrome
• Mx: small lesions topical bactroban (mupirocin) OK in low risk groups. if needed to give ABx, give fluclox is strep. if staph give penicillin.

Foliculitits → furuncle → carbuncle

Staph A

CArbuncle in thick skin, in hair baring skin, in adults, incision and drainiage with swabs and ABx

Cellulitis - DVT sometimes looks like it red and hot

erysipelas is more superficial form of cellulitis. typically of thin skin. treat aggressively to avoid lymphatic damage

Acne vulgaris: distinguished with comedones. driven with testosterone. consider PCOS and cushings.
