Pathophysiology

• Sand & stone dust (Quartz) → Crystalline silica → macrophage activation → fibrosis.
• Progress to fusion of nodules → PMF

Morphology

• Multiple fibrotic nodules with central silica.
• Surrounding Irregular emphysema.
