Clinical Features
- HX repeat heavy lifting or repetitive movements esp. above shoulder level
- Often occurs in non-dominant arm and in non-manual workers
- gradual onset
- discomfort sleeping on side
- Wasting may be present on examination
- Active/resisted movements are painful and partially restricted
- unilateral painful abduction 60-120 degrees
- passive movements are non restricted and not painful
- ROM loss is isolated depending on tendon involved
- may have impingement
Investigations
- nil required unless excluding others or demonstrating calcific deposits
- don’t need USS if assessment suggests rotator cuff
