ant: glands. 3 cell types. basophilic cells (blue), acidophilic cells (red) and chromophobes (no colour) Post cells has axons and astrocytes. axons carry NT (post pit. hormones) for direct release into capillaries.

Hypothalamo-Pititary Axis (HPA)

hypothalamus controls pituitary although hormones controlled by interconnected feedback mechanisms with strong neural control.

hypothalamic nuclei (controlled by emotions) controls endocrine system

Anterior pituitary Hormones: FSH/LH, ACTH, TSH, prolactin, GH, (flat peg)

Post pituitary hormones: oxytocin and ADH
