Aetiology
40% Thrombotic: Atherosclerosis (large vessels), small vessel occlusion (arteriolosclerosis)
20% Embolic: cardiac (AF, RHD etc), atheroemboli (ICA), infectious (bacterial endocarditis), paradoxical
Hypoxic: Systemic hypoperfusion or hypoxemia (cardio surg, cardiac arrest, septic shock, drowning), Impacts in watershed areas
