Demographics: 1-15% patients with stones

Risk Factors:

• gall stones, same RFs
• Fat, Female, Forty, Fair, Fertile
• increased age
• rapid weight change
• pregnancy
• Oral contraceptives
• Disorders of bile metabolism & Hyperlipidemias.
• Diabetes

Pathophysiology: Gall stones obstruct common bile duct -> impeded bile flow from liver.

Clinical Features

• Biliary RUQ pain
• Sometimes with itch and jaundice
• Nausea/vomiting
• Dark urine, pale stools.
