Cardiac rehabilitation is a structured secondary prevention which involves development of a personalised program of support, exercise and education which encourages long term and sustainable lifestyle changes for cardiovascular health. The key components of CR include:
- Medication adherence
- Physical activity promotion
- Body weight management
- Healthy nutrition
- Psychosocial management (stress, anxiety, depression)
- Smoking cessation
- Manage other conditions – HTN, high cholesterol, diabetes
- Educate on warning signs of a heart attack and what to do in an emergency.
