Presentation:

• Symptoms of raised intracranial pressure:
  • Headache: worse in the morning, with coughing, sneezing, bending.
  • Back ache
  • Vomiting (without nausea)
  • Drowsiness
  • Personality change
  • Visual loss
• Acute presentation (haemorrhage into tumour):
  • Sudden severe headache
  • Seizure
  • Stroke
• Focal Neurological deficit
• Hormonal effect (esp pituitary tumours)

<aside> 💡 80% of all intracranial tumours are supratentorial

<aside> 💡 Roughly one-third of CNS tumours are metastatic lesions, one third are gliomas and one-third are of non-glial origin

Modality of choice: MRI with gadolinium enhancement

Meningioma

CT: extra-axial hyperdense lobulated mass at the left parieto-temporal region, with surrounding brain parenchymal oedema. Few cystic changes are seen. No calcifications seen. No overlying bone changes.
