Short Term Effects

Symptoms:

• <0.05 → wellbeing, talkative, relaxed, increased confidence
• 0.05-0.08 → reduced inhibitions, impaired judgment and movement
• 0.08-0.15 → slurred speech, unstable emotions, N&V, impaired balance, coordination, vision and reflexes
• 0.15-0.30 → sleepy, breathing difficulty, memory loss, loss of bladder control, possible LoC, unable to walk without help

• 0.30 → coma, death

Additional social short term effects:

• Accidental injury (others or yourself)
• MVA
• Deliberately harming yourself / others
• Unprotected / unwanted sex / unwanted pregnancies
• Alcohol poisoning

Long Term Effects

Physical:

• Mental health issues: risk of suicide, anxiety, depression
• Substance use disorder: addiction to alcohol, especially if existing mental disorder / family history alcohol use disorder
